~ 1st Bloggiversary ~

Biggest Boy Birthday ~ Happy 20th to my young man!
Things started with ~ The List.

The I am almost 40 years old, Who Am I List.
The what are the things I want To Do With My Life List.

Things on the list included: slowwwwing down, raising chickens, raise bees again, grow food and garden, cook more, bake bread, learn how to really sew, hang clothes out on a line, maybe start my own business, make soap, in general just learn more, and of course in there was ~ write a blog.

I wanted to have a place to go and leave my images and thoughts for the day.
I never really planned it out, I didn't have a "mission statement", I just wanted to do it for me!
I knew that I didn't want it to become something that stressed me out, I didn't want to worry that I have not posted something in awhile, or what would people think.
It was for me, and about me and my new journey ~ about the simple things that make my life happy.

So, as I look back.  I can not believe for a moment that this journey has been a whole year already.  My life looks and feels so very different from that one year ago.  I am so very much living out all of those plans, thoughts, and dreams. Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek. Things around here will keep a changing.  After all, that is what life is all about.

Saved the best for last ~
the old farm truck.
My honey got us the perfect old truck last night.  Aint she a beauty.
1967 Chevy with original miles 78269.
She has been in the same family for almost 40 years.  Just dreaming about driving her to the farmers market with the back full of fresh produce.  And our farm's name painted on her side.
This is a berry good life!

Who Dun It??

Meet Baby Face Buttafucco

And Brett Wurst

Movie Star Cecily Sicily and Eddy "The Tongue" Corneoli
 We didn't do it!
Bullets in the Bathtub was a comedic murder mystery dinner we attended last night at our local German Restaurant.  This 4H fundraiser was our family's Valentine treat ~ 1920's mobsters and flappers we were last night.  We had a great time!  Not sure if we had more fun planning and preparing or the event itself.  Our boys were the only youngsters there and they loved it.  I can't share with you who dun it, but I can tell you none of us dun it!

Don't mess with my guys!

We had a blast and hope you enjoyed a sneak peak!
Happy Valentine's Day to you all!  xoxoxo

Another Season

josh bundled right up and headed out into the blustery morn

We are experiencing yet another season here in the country.  We have been here since June, and it still doesn't completely feel real to us.
I heard that you must experience each season first hand to really "feel" like you belong.  To know what it looks like covered in snow, or in the first fresh flush of green in the spring, and to see those deep colors of fall.
We know one thing.  We like it white.  And we love it here.  Can't wait to see all the seasons and see if feels completely like home then.

it's been 10 minutes in the crazy wind and i am cold, can i come in?

We (I) had a nice visit from my sister-in-law Denise.
She came over Saturday morning and we sewed and crafted Christmas gifts while the guys were gone.    Then we went to town for lunch and a quick peek in "my" local quilt fabric shop.  And back to the house for more sewing and a nice margarita.
She stayed the night, and the snow and cold blew in.
I was so busy playing that I forgot to take any pics of her (and her freshly knitted hat).

krackerz wanted out, and then didn't know what to think ~ his 1st snow
i think he was outside for all of 4 minutes
 Winter Wonderland

a few snowflakes blew into the coop
and landed on our lonely egg

whiskers checking out the snow from the safety
and warmth of momma's room
What to do on a blustery winter day?
Go bowling, of course.
When I told Blake we were going to town and going bowling, he said
"In this weather, that is what you guys thought we should do? Really?"
And of course that is just what we did.

blake the nervous he isn't perfect at this game
competitive in everything bowler
jeff the pro-bowler
gets frustrated when he get a spare
(and then takes the last pin down ~ every time!)

momma the happy to be with the family
what a fun, relaxing, enjoyable day, horrible at bowling,
who doesn't want any pro-bowler advice from the hubby,
just let her throw the ball and she is happy bowler
josh the animated, hop around, can't sit down, is it my turn yet bowler
It was a wonderful weekend here.
Enjoyed some crafting and catching up with family,
 warmth from the wood stove,
good food & drink,
and good memories created with my family.
All set in our beautiful surroundings.
Life is good here, hope it is wherever you are!

A Country Auction

Saturday was a gorgeous fall day spent with my honey at a local farm auction
where we enjoyed the whole day together.
And although at first glance we saw a lot of junk, there
are always those little things that if the price is right,
you may be willing to take it home with you.
Now I have been to many a auction, but this one had the most food
choices including in the morning fresh homemade pies and cakes.
The gooey butter was delish.  And when we got our lunch
I was able to put homemade pickles on my cheeseburger, we aren't in Jefferson County, MO anymore.

this building was sold for 3 bucks, somebody will be tearing it down for the barn wood
quilts, blankets & afghans
quilt on the line, i loved this one but sold for over 50
check out this old barn ~ this farm is over 3 generations

cool cart ~ didn't get to bid on
this auction had enough stuff that they had
two rings going, so it was hard to keep up at times
building was sold too, and this neat old
dry sink sold for over 200 buckaroos
(not neat enough for me)
at these old farmsteads you get to see neat things
on the property ~ like this long tunnel of grapevines
be careful at country auctions ~ you may come home with a load of goodies
had i rode in the back of the truck with all of this good stuff
the clampett's we would be called!
some goodies for us and some resell
ooh you can see the progress on the coop in the background
picked up 2 cool feeders
one for feed & one for plants
close-up of the old hand made quilt
i will cut up into pillows
this pic looks good, but it is very rough
quilt top made of men's pj's (i believe)
the cool thing is the quilt i didn't bid on
that sold for over 50, is this same material
but i only paid 5 for this, it was in the
wrong place so the quilt buyers were not nearby
to run the price up guess i can practice quilting it this winter
patio soda bottles from pepsi
so cool & retro
etsy here they come

ohh yea, whilst i was bidding away on my goodies
look what papa was buying!
will those boys be happy or what?
give those corn fields heck guys!

The Goings On Round Here

Brown Cornstalks
Means Autumn is right around the corner.
My Birthday Camera

I have a new camera.
It is for my big Four O.
It is just like my papa's.
And it doesn't leave  ghosts.

An early gift it was.
And for this gal who loves to snap.
Beauty is everywhere.
Is my rhyme making you want a nap?

I love it!
Thanks Guys! ~ Enjoy the show!
~ My Daddy ~

We enjoyed our beautiful fall preview weather over the holiday weekend.  Dad came over here to the farm to enjoy camping with us in the backyard.
RV style for him, tents and hard ground for us.
He brought Brooke, however the fact that she IS a bird dog and thought my chickens were possibly birds she should catch was a little much.  So she got to go home with her momma after the big camp dinner with some ribs and fixings that Dad and Blake qued up for us.

We had some extra fun when Denise and her grandgirls came to hang with us country people.
No pics, silly me.  Next time!
There will be a big fall camp, wienie roasting bonfire, 4 wheel riding Good Time!
The youngest men in my life ~
enjoying their last day of summer freedom, while Jeff and I (mainly Jeff) unloaded the truck with the remainder of the barn we tore down on Saturday ~ the boys got to play.  They were just trying to keep their minds off of what the next day had to bring them.
My Honey & Whiskers ~ Relaxing!!
When it is gorgeous outside, we always wished we had a hammock to relax in.  So for an early birthday present, I ordered a nice large white cotton hammock.
It is cotton and it is large, white however, it is not.
The boys loved the colors and Jeff is not picky.
But I must say, that hippie hammock sure is comfy!
The front of the barn, before it was completely torn down and loaded up on Saturday
